What is Zard Kuh, where is Zard Kuh?
Zardkuh is part of Zagros mountain range and it is located in south west of Iran and far west of Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province. It is surrounded by Bazoft river from the east and Kuhrang river from the west. Zard Kuh is considered as one of the most important mountains of Iran since it is highly respected among local people and the history of Iranians.
The name of the mountain is the combination of two words, “Zard” which means yellow and “Kuh” which means mountain and refers to the yellow stones of the mountain. The mountain is notable for having numerous rivers with high flow rate, in the arid country of Iran, such feature is extremely important. Besides the beauty and natural resources, there are great potentials for adventure activities such as skiing, ski mountaineering, trekking and other activities of the same nature.
How to Ascend?
Zardkuh is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful mountain ranges of Iran with 11 summits above 4000 meters. In fact, one of the main characteristics of this mountain is having various peaks with different routes that is suitable for both professional and amateur hikers. However, the best and most common time for climbing in Zardkuh is in Summer (August and September) as the weather is stable and fairly pleasant.
